Milford Pedicab was created by two local Milford, CT residents, Mark Kaminski and Joe Meade. The idea actually was formed when Mark Kaminski watched, the then popular show, The Apprentice, season one, where the contestants used the NYC Pedicab company in their task given by Donald Trump. From this point on Mark watched the popularity and population grow in Milford and decided it was time to bring this unique business to his hometown. Mark had formed a great friendship with another Milford resident, Joe Meade. Joe is a very well respected community leader and he saw the potential of Milford Pedicab from the second that Mark discussed it with him. Together Mark and Joe have worked tirelessly to bring Milford Pedicab to life and now to Milford!

Joe is a Bronx native and a retired New York City Transit police officer.

He has spent the last 20 years teaching and coaching basketball both at the high school and college levels. After moving to Milford in 1999, Joe has had a tremendous impact in the Milford community through his work as District Manager for Junior Achievement. In just 3 short years, he managed to expand JA programming in Milford from one kindergarten class of 16 students to reaching nearly 4,000 students in every elementary school in the city.

Through his work with the Milford Chamber of Commerce and the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce as well as many local organizations and businesses, Joe recruited and trained over 1,000 volunteers to teach the Junior Achievement program that helps kids learn about business and free enterprise. He was recognized in 2006 as one of Business New Haven’s Rising Star Awards and in 2008 received the Community Partner Award by the Milford Board of Education for his work with Junior Achievement and Milford’s Promise, where he served as vice president.

An avid bike rider, Joe can be seen hauling his two young daughters Isabela and Soledad in his bike trailer around downtown Milford and the Gulf Beach area. His passion for biking and entrepreneurship has led him to be co-founder of the Milford Pedicab Company. “I like the exercise and enjoy meeting new people, so this is right up my alley” Joe states with his infectious enthusiasm. “I hope that Milford Pedicab can be as successful as JA has been in Milford and I look forward to working with the fine people of our town to make it happen”.

Joe resides in Milford with his wife Soledad, their two daughters and young son Joe Meade III. He still manages to find time for basketball and runs skills clinics and is a frequent lecturer at local basketball camps and clinics.
